Second Sunday of Easter
In the easter narrative, there had been grieving and mourning for Jesus. The hope that was placed in this Jesus was dashed for His followers. Then there were incredulity and amazement at the resurrection of Jesus as He began to appear to His disciples, first to Mary, Peter, and then the others, then He appeared to five hundred of His followers at one time, but some doubted. Most of us are familiar with the unfortunate nickname given to the Apostle Thomas, now dubbed by many as ‘doubting Thomas’. Dashed hope, incredulity and amazement in Christ, some doubt.
We will look to explore what it is to have faith, which is a big subject and as such, we will only begin to scratch the surface of this subject. But it is so important for us to grapple with our faith in the resurrected Jesus, what this looks like, and how we might strengthen our faith 2000 years after the fact.
I pray that we take the time to sit and dwell in the big story of Easter and truly consider how deeply rooted our faith is in this Christ.
May God bless you.
