Thankfulness, Gratitude, and Praise

This Sunday, we will be looking at the Psalm 48 which is a wonderful Psalm that presents an amazing picture of what praise might look like, especially when given to One to whom it is rightfully due.

It won’t be a long reflection (I suppose if a Presbyterian minister ever says that you’d take it with a grain of salt because our idea of what a short reflection is can vary drastically with everyone elses!). But there are some simple ideas that we might glean from this passage. Firstly that we are not always mindful of the little things, and therefore unable to truly appreciate it. Whereas we might just hear a beautiful piece of brass music played, they would be able to appreciate the tonal varieties, the timbre, the dynamic range, the subtleties and nuances, the musicality and physicalities involved.

This is because they have spent time in the little things of their craft. Similarly, in the wider scheme of life, we too might also develop a greater appreciation of life, a life of gratitude that is intentionally recognising and being thankful for the little blessings of life. One thing we can be thankful for today is Radiant Brass who will bless us through their music, and music is one of the most wonderful and unifying blessings given us from God!
